Committee Letters

The PRIORITY deadline for the Committee Letter Application was March 15. The FINAL deadline is June 10. Please visit the website for more information.

We do not review personal statements for the Committee Letter application. The purpose of the application is for us to review your first draft.

If you submitted by March 15th you should have received an email about your status. If you applied after March 15 please do not e-mail the Pre-Health Office asking for an update. We receive many, many applications for committee letters and we will process them in the order they are received and as quickly as time allows.

Once submitted you will be contacted by the Pre-Health Office. There is no specific timeline set but beginning in May you will likely be contacted within 3-4 weeks from time of submission.
For more information about the MCAT please view the document located here: http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/prehealth/repository/files/FromTheDirectorsDesk_MCAT_Timing_KP31.30.12.pdf

Committee Letter Updates
If you applied for a Committee Letter update you will be hearing from us in the next couple of weeks. Please be patient.

Pre-health Advising Office Staff

We are currently understaffed. There will be no one sitting in our “main” office (1208) and e-mails sent to [log in to unmask] will likely not receive responses for SEVERAL weeks. If you are applying for a Committee Letter, do not submit a file check and please do not email or call asking if a specific letter of recommendation has been received. Missing one letter of recommendation will not delay your committee letter. We will check your file when we review your application and let you know what is missing. File checks will be very delayed for the time being.

Because we are short staffed we would truly appreciate you looking on the website before emailing us. The answers to many of your questions can be found there.

Pre-Health Advising Appointments

http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/prehealth/advisement

Recently, students have been scheduling appointments and not showing up. If you schedule an appointment and cannot make it PLEASE LET US KNOW. It is unfair to the advisors and to the students who are waiting to schedule appointments. It wastes everyone’s time. If you miss 2 appointments without notifying the appropriate advisor, you will not be able to make future appointments without being granted permission first.

Remember that appointments must be made via the online appointment system (with the exception of walk in advising on Wednesdays). Please do not e-mail requesting appointments. Again, we are short staffed and these e-mails are not productive as they will only receive responses directing you to the online scheduling system. For information regarding appointments: http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/prehealth/advisement
