Health Bucks Application - Priority Deadline June 30th
The farmers' market season is quickly approaching and it's time to apply for 2013 Health Bucks! As you may know, Health Bucks are $2 coupons redeemable for fresh fruits and vegetables at any farmers' market in NYC. The program is designed to get community residents to buy and eat more fruit and vegetables, encourage Food Stamp (EBT) use at farmers' markets, and to support neighborhood markets. This year, the NYC Health Department will host walking tours to farmers markets as well as nutrition and cooking workshops for adults and kids at select farmers' markets. Organizations that apply for Health Bucks are eligible to sign up for these free activities. Organizations that bring their clients to a farmers' market have the most Health Bucks used, so we recommend signing up for a Health Department led walking tour to your local market or host your own tour. New this year, we will host a training to teach interested organizations how to lead their own walking tours. This training will be held on July 19th. More details will follow soon. This year, there will also be food-based activities for kids at select farmers' markets. Please refer to the attached flyer for more information and locations.

If you are interested in scheduling a market tour or attending a nutrition and cooking workshop, please contact: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or 347-396-4264. There is an application you need to complete in order to receive Health Bucks. Please be thorough when you complete your application! The application and all relevant information are available at: www.nyc.gov/health/farmersmarkets<http://www.nyc.gov/health/farmersmarkets>. Please note: the priority deadline for applying is June 30th but applications will continue to be accepted on an ongoing basis as supplies last.
*If your organization requires more Health Bucks coupons than the Health Department has, you can purchase additional Health Bucks from the Fund for Public Health in NY. For more information please visit http://fphny.org/.
