CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health), evidence based resource, provides the curricula and training to improve physical activity and nutrition knowledge and food choices and improved
eating behavior habits for both school age and preschool children and also positively impacts parents and families with a family component.
CATCH was selected as an appropriate intervention for States to include in FY2014 SNAP-Ed Plans.

impacting staff, teachers and parents in school and community settings.

CATCH research began 25 years ago with several US universities collaborating in the development and testing of what has become the most successful program for school age and preschool age children
and their families, helping to reduce risk factors related to childhood obesity while enjoying a program curricula of a vast array of non-elimination physical activities and fun and engaging experiences designed to improve healthy food choices and healthy
habits to last a lifetime.
In 2012 CATCH was awarded Center for Disease Control’s Childhood Obesity – Physical Activity/ Nutrition “System Change Award” at the Weight of the Nation conference in Washington DC. CATCH also
meets standards for after school programming from National Institute for Out of School Time and has been approved by the Institute of Medicine (IOM).
CATCH builds nutrition knowledge and makes healthy food choices easy with the GO SLOW WHOA – model presented ---in CATCH nutrition lessons. ( see attached Go, Slow, Whoa Food Lists

Sustainability
CATCH materials and curricula can be utilized on a continuous ongoing basis and CATCH training and evaluation components are available plus support for sustainability. CATCH TRAINING for staff is available as – on-site, online or a “ train-the-trainer” for
each CATCH program segment; school, afterschool or preschool.
CATCH research began 25 years ago funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH) and continues to today by, Michael and Susan Dell Center for the Advancement of Healthy Living, University of
Texas. Flaghouse publishes CATCH and coordinates trainings.
