Description:
Sugary drinks are an important target in the fight against obesity, and much progress has been made in the past several years to reduce consumption.
But, we can’t rest yet. In this webinar,
Roberta Friedman, the Director of Public Policy at the Yale Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity will discuss the body of strong science that links sugary beverage consumption to obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, gout and dental decay; current
consumption trends; the relentless marketing of these beverages to children; and other reasons why public health advocates are targeting sugary drinks in their obesity-prevention campaigns.
She will then update nutrition professionals on the wide variety of policies that are being implemented to reduce consumption, give suggestions for how we can work with community groups to promote strong policies
and answer additional questions.
