The Food Access and Community Health Program (FACH) at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene works to address the obesity epidemic in New York City, using evidence-based strategies to improve health outcomes and target communities most affected by health disparities. FACH is seeking a nutrition consultant  to implement the Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Setting program in the borough of Staten Island. The consultants will be contracted between October 1, 2013 and April 30, 2014 (or slightly later). Specific duties include:


*       Teach nutrition education classes to 3-4 year olds, parents, and child care center staff in 8 child care centers using the Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings curriculum and provide marketing sessions to staff and parents;

*       Plan, prepare and shop for all classes;

*       Maintain all records of purchases following program protocol;

*       Follow evaluation protocol;

*       Enter and submit classes into a monthly database;

*       Provide technical asstistance to staff at childcare centers and link centers to relevant NYC DOHMH resources; and

*       Attend monthly staff meetings.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

*       Must be Registered Dietitian

*       Have previous experience teaching nutrition education

*       Have previous experience working with children

*       Be a flexible, outgoing, and independent worker
