Division/Program Description:

 

The World Trade Center Health Registry (WTCHR) was developed as a public health response to document and evaluate the physical and mental health impact of the September 11th, 2001 disaster on a large, diverse population.  The WTCHR provides a means for long-term follow-up of the 71,000 people who have volunteered to participate in the Registry.  

 

Job Description:

 

Situated in a longitudinal study, the Treatment Referral Project (TRP) responds to enrollees’ physical and mental health concerns and connects them to clinical services provided by the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP).

 

The TRP is seeking a City Research Scientist with experience in developing rapport with individuals over the phone, and utilizing counseling, motivational interviewing and/or social work techniques. Candidate should be highly organized with the ability to work well independently, and function as part of a larger team.

Reporting to the Registry’s Lead Scientist for the Treatment Referral Unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

-          Placing outreach calls to enrollees who may be in need of health care services and accurately recording outcome of call, maintaining excellent records and lists, and conducting timely follow up

-          Responding in a timely manner to enrollee concerns including physical and mental health concerns, via phone, email or letter

-          Provide assistance in writing and modifying TRP protocols, summary outreach reports, and analyzing TRP data

-          -Adhere to WTCHR protocols for confidentiality and TRP protocols

-          Provide assistance in planning and executing research and evaluation projects

-          Be involved in survey comment review and outreach  for  Registry wide surveys to help increase response rates, and to address enrollee concerns by providing referrals

-          Recruit enrollees for in-depth  studies

Performing other tasks based on the Registry’s needs, including the preparation of written reports, and conducting quality assurance and data analysis.
