Graduate Students
The New York City Food Policy Center at Hunter College seeks graduate students to serve as part-time research assistants to support an evaluation study of a community healthy food project in New York City based in four communities throughout New York City (Northeast Brooklyn/Bed Stuy, Brooklyn; Cypress Hills, Brooklyn; Mt. Eden, the Bronx; West Harlem). Research assistants will assist in the development of evaluation instruments, preparation of reports and participate in collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data in one or more community. This work will require traveling to different site locations throughout New York City and helping to conduct surveys, interviews, focus groups, and assessments of the local food environment through retail scans and analysis. Students should have knowledge in at least 2 of the following areas: community services, community development, nutrition and food, evaluation, or survey research. Familiarity with at least one of the participating communities is desirable. Pay ranges from $18-22/hour depending on experience, and work will not exceed 19 hours per week. A couple of positions are available this semester, and more will be available to start in early January 2014. Work will continue through the spring 2014 semester. Can serve as field work placement or possibly as topic for capstone paper. Please send resume and letter of interest to Michele Silver at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> no later than November 1st.
