Academic Networking Workshop

Your academic contacts at Hunter will be useful if you’re interested in pursuing research, internships, or graduate work. So how do you approach faculty members? Ask about research opportunities? Or maybe even a letter of recommendation? This workshop will help you build your network.

Harvard Graduate School Admissions Visit
Weds, November 20 | 1pm – 2:30pm, HW 604

SciMON and the McNair program will be co-hosting an information and advising session with Harvard’s School of Arts and Sciences Minority Recruitment and Student Programming Officer, who will be visiting to talk with you about applying to graduate school, financial aid, housing, summer research programs, and more.

Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP)
Spring Application Deadline: November 30

The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation is an alliance of 17 CUNY Colleges and the CUNY Graduate Center. Students participate in faculty research and receive mentoring from senior faculty. The Alliance provides academic scholarship support to CUNY students majoring in the STEM disciplines, making research an integral part of STEM education in New York City.

HHMI Summer Research Internship: Marine Biological Laboratory
Summer Application Deadline: December 24

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute is offering an exciting summer research internship in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Students who are majoring in Biology spend the summer (10 weeks) working alongside renowned research scientists, and earn a $3,000 stipend. Room and board and transportation are also provided.

Hunter's 2014 Undergraduate Research Conference: Request for Proposals
Deadline:
January 17, 2014


The 2nd annual Undergraduate Research Conference at Hunter College will be held on March 5-6, 2014. The conference provides a forum for Hunter undergraduates from all disciplines and departments to present their research or scholarship via poster sessions and oral presentations. Applications are now being accepted for students interested in presenting posters or oral presentations.

Research Internship Opportunity at Bellevue Hospital
Accepting applications now

This academic year-long Research Associate Internship gives students the opportunity to develop basic clinical research skills, learn how to collect data from patients in the Emergency Department, and assist with research-related tasks such as data-entry and analysis. SUNY Downstate Early Medical Education Program: Visit from Dr. Alliancin
November 6, 1-3pm, HN 1036

This event will give students information about the SUNY Downstate Early Medical Education Program. This summer program is designed to provide medical science lectures and academic support. All of the lectures include a case based learning approach. In addition, students will learn time & stress management skills and will have an opportunity for hands-on exposure to medical disciplines through shadowing experiences with clinicians.
