Planned Parenthood of New York City is currently recruiting for a full-time Policy and Research Associate for the Public Affairs department located at 26 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012<x-apple-data-detectors://1>.

This is an exempt position reporting to the Director of Government Relations.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Policy and Research Associate acts as the main support staff person for the Public Affairs Department for city and state legislative and policy activities.  Responsibilities include issue research, drafting of public statements, talking points, and testimony, coordinating and representing the organization in related coalition-building work. The Policy and Research Associate also supports the work of the Planned Parenthood of New York City Action Fund by helping to coordinate candidate research, developing effective background information on elected officials, tracking legislators’ voting records, and supporting opportunities for activists to expand their justice work. The Policy and Research Associate also maintains the PPNYC portion of the shared legislative database with FPA/PPANY.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires Bachelor’s degree. Requires two (2) to three (3) years of related and/or applicable research and/or advocacy experience in a political or social issues setting plus a strong interest in reproductive health and rights advocacy.  Internet research skills and strong written and verbal skills a must. Some experience in policy research and analysis and in marketing clinical or social services a plus. Must have working knowledge of on-line advocacy systems.
