NYS COUNCIL ON FOOD POLICY TO HOST THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF LISTENING TOUR EVENTS ON FEBRUARY 26 AT THE NEW YORK STATE FAIRGROUNDS

            Acting State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today announced that the New York State Council on Food Policy will host the first in a series of listening tour events on February 26 at the New York State Fairgrounds.  The title of the series is “Farm, Food and Policy: Getting it Right in New York State.” 

            The first event will take place at the New York State Fairgrounds on Wednesday, February 26, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Demo Kitchen in the Art and Home Center, 581 State Fair Boulevard, in Syracuse. 

The Council works together to advise policymakers on the values of safe, fresh, nutritious and affordable food for all New Yorkers.

Priorities will be matched with the Council’s Key Issue Areas:

-          Strengthening the connection between local food products and consumers

-          Supporting efficient and profitable agricultural food production and food retail infrastructure

-          Foster a culture of healthy and local eating for all New York State residents

-          Maximizing participation in food and nutrition assistance programs

 

Those wishing to attend and present comments must RSVP no later than February 23 by calling the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets at (518) 457-1721 or emailing [log in to unmask].  Public comments must be limited to five minutes and a hard copy of comments is required to be submitted to the Council at the time of presentation.
