Dear Academic Colleague:

Happy New Year and warm wishes for a successful spring 2014!

I am writing once again to remind you that The College at Brockport will host the third annual Master's Level Graduate Research Conference (MaRC) on Saturday April 26, 2014.

Like last year's event, which attracted nearly 400 presenters from 30 universities, this one-day multidisciplinary conference enables students to hone professional presentation skills and network with faculty and peer scholars as they present original work through posters, oral presentations, and creative performances.

Please note: we are working hard to insure that all attendees have enriching experiences by:

  * Providing each presenter with a "Digital Commons" online folder to make their abstract and presentation available to global audiences
  * Concentrating audience attendance at two one-hour poster sessions and at two oral presentation sessions with discipline-specific panels of at least six student presenters
  * Organizing disciplinary roundtable workshops on PhD/professional opportunities, followed by conference-ending networking receptions

Furthermore, a graduate student coordinating committee will work to build disciplinary communities among conference attendees by:

  * Connecting presenters in common disciplines before the conference via social media
  * Helping visiting presenters find affordable housing on the eve of the conference
  * Organizing peer groups to sit together and network during the luncheon
  * Encouraging, by discipline, presenters to attend roundtables and receptions together

Master's level students should visit www.digitalcommons.brockport.edu/gradconf<http://www.digitalcommons.brockport.edu/gradconf> to submit presentation proposals by this Saturday, February 22, 2014 and to get more information about the conference. Accepted presenters will then need to register for the conference and pay a $20 registration fee, which will include a luncheon ticket. Faculty, friends, and family can attend free of charge, but will need to register and pay this modest fee if they too want access to the luncheon.

Please share this email with your faculty colleagues and encourage your master's students to participate. They should direct questions about the conference to Adrian Safar at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or 585-395-5812.

Best regards,
