Greenhorns is seeking applicants for a Summer internship focused on a campaign for a GMO-Free Adirondack Park. Following the examples set elsewhere in the country, we will pursue a campaign to inform, describe and enact a GMO ban within the 6 million acre Adirondack State Park which comprises a major portion of NY State, which is simultaneously evaluating a State GMO Labelling bill. This is a volunteer position but comes with room+ board at the Greenhorns headquarters on Lake Champlain, and a part-time farm job at Juniper Hill farm. Tasks will include: - projects management, coordination, outreach and research - on the ground organizing - working under the direction of stakeholder task force and Greenhorns director Severine v T Fleming -Outreach and interactions with Adirondack Farm and Conservation community - Coordinate a summer celebrational event - Outreach at markets and public events for consumer and citizen education - Create materials and talking points for farmer and landowner advocacy Qualifications include: - Great communications, writing, and public speaking skills - Keen interest and passion about sustainable agriculture and the emerging regional foods economy - Knowledge of, and willingness to learn in great depth about the implications of GMO's on landscape ecology, agricultural systems, human and wildlife health, and other related topics - Willingness to work long and hard on an ambitious grassroots campaign. - Scrupulous organizing and data management skills Please send a cover letter and resume to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> outlining your qualifications for this position.
