MPH Student for Urban Health Plan Internship

Under the supervision of the Investigator and the Community Research Associate, the intern will assist in the training of recruited research participants for Project CHAT (Cervical Health Awareness and Testing) a government funded research study focused on increasing cervical cancer screenings amongst 21-29 year old Bronx female residents in the Bella Vista Health Centers’ catchment area. The intern will be required to complete a web based course on Human Subjects Research which covers the historical development of human subjects protections as well as current information on regulatory and ethical issues. The preferred intern will be bilingual in English and Spanish, as s/he will disseminate information verbally and in writing to participants in either language. The intern will also prepare and distribute materials to research participants; make reminder phone calls to research participants, and administer to research participants a word recognition test used to identify people at risk for poor literacy skills. The intern will attend partnership meetings on an ad hoc basis in order to deliver reports from the field on the progress of recruitment.

The intern will assist with data collection and assemble mass mailings for this project. The intern will be assisted in meeting any course credit requirements.
