This email is full of great information. LAHIDAN is having its annual handout contest!! Also we have extended the deadlines for the Trinko Award and the Student Scholarship!! So be sure to check it out and apply today!!!
Handout Contest
Have you developed nutrition education handouts specifically tailored for Latinos/Hispanics that you are very proud of? Participating in LAHIDAN’s Annual Nutrition Education Handout Contest gives you the opportunity to show off your creativity and win a cash prize! Up to three winners will each receive $100 dollars and a featured spot in LAHIDAN’s Adelante Newsletter.
Contest rules:
• LAHIDAN member, one entry per person
• Original and Unpublished work
• Work must related to topic of the year 2014: Portion Control
• No advertisements of products or services
• Specifically tailored for Hispanic/Latinos (addressing culture,dietary practices, health beliefs and practices, etc.)
To enter:
• Submit your entry electronically by June 1st, 2014 to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. You must include full name, credentials, mailing address, email address(es) and telephone number(s)
• Submit your entry in word document, single spaced, 2 pages maximum. Content must be owned by you. You may include graphics (pictures, tables, graphs, etc) for illustrative purposes. If selected as a winner, a graphic designer will recreate some or all of the graphics. LAHIDAN reserves the right to modify the educational material.
• After the deadline, a panel of judges selected by LAHIDAN EC, will select three winners based on entry creativity (0-20 points), relevance to Hispanics or Latinos (0-40 points), and practical application (0-40 points).The contestants with the three highest combined number of points will be the winners. If you are not selected as a winner, you will retain ownership of all materials submitted. However, materials and entries submitted will not be returned to you.
• Winners will be notified by email and/or telephone by June 15th, 2014 and will be publically announced by July 2014. To be eligible to win a prize, winners must respond within five (5) business days of the first attempted notification.
• Each winner must sign a publicity release affidavit. The educational handout will become property of LAHIDAN and will be distributed to its members and used for promotional activities.If the winner fails to respond within five days and/or fails to sign the publicity release affidavit, an alternate entrant will be selected to receive the prize.

LAHIDAN Student FNCE Scholarship
The LAHIDAN Student Scholarship is designed to enable an undergraduate or graduate student in the field of dietetics/nutrition or a dietetic intern/AP4 student to attend FNCE®. LAHIDAN will offer one ($500) scholarship towards FNCE registration and minor travel related incidentals to help a student member achieve their professional development goals.
