Interested in fieldwork on HIV-related issues?

The Center for HIV Educational Studies and Training (CHEST) is looking for a few strong public health students. Possible projects include working
in collaboration with community partners to assess the HIV risk of transgender men (people assigned female at birth) or supporting the work of the CHEST Community Advisory Board (CAB) which would mean working with CBOs and providers who work with HIV patients and communities across the city.

ABOUT CHEST
CHEST's mission is to conduct research to identify and promote strategies that prevent the spread of HIV and improve the lives of people living with HIV.
It conducts research on social and psychological factors associated with HIV transmission and the wellbeing of those living with HIV, with a particular emphasis on the promotion of sexual health. It has been advocating for and working with the LGBT community since 1996. In addition, CHEST disseminates study findings to community organizations serving persons with HIV and at risk for HIV.

As an interdisciplinary academic research center (social work, psychology, public health, sociology, etc), CHEST supports post-doctoral fellows, doctoral candidates, masters' students, and undergraduate interns. The majority of our doctoral students attend the CUNY Graduate Center's Health Psychology, Basic and Applied Social Psychology doctoral programs, or the doctoral program in Public Health.
