Clinical Dietitian position - Full Time, Brooklyn, NY, Long Term Care

Minimum Qualifications:
• Baccalaureate Degree with major in dietetics or food and nutrition from a program aproved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetes (formerly American Dietetic Association)

Responsibilities:
• Performs nutrition assessments and reassessments daily as per assigned unit, admission date and time as per the current policy of the department.

• Performs and documents meal rounds to observe residents acceptance of meals. • Provides nutrition education and counseling to residents (and family if appropriate) identified at nutritional risk prior to discharge. Education is to be reflective of the resident's nutritional needs and in accordance with therapeutic diet guidelines.
• Participates in discharge planning rounds, interdisciplinary team rounds, Wound Care Rounds on assigned unit to discuss the plan of care and recommendation with the interdisciplinary team.
• Reviews daily census sheets and monthly MDS report to detemine which residents need to be seen.
• Documents all assessments, reassessments, likes, dislikes, allergies and all other pertinent information in medical record.
• Documents dail productivity of all patients assessed and/or visited and any patient associated meetings daily. Provide daily productivity reports to the clinical nutrition manager on a weekly basis.
• Attends and participates in department monthly meetings - may plan and conduct meetings in the Clinical Nutrition Manager's absence.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job description
Are you passionate about cooking, healthy eating and educating children? Join the Allergic to Salad team!
Allergic to Salad is seeking reliable, self-motivated, independent, fun-loving and kid-loving freelance Children's Food Educators to join our team. The ideal candidate has a flexible schedule and a few other gigs happening. This position is not full time. The Children's Food Educators work closely with Allergic to Salad founder and lead educator, Stacey Ornstein, but will teach their own, independent classes. This person(s) is responsible for leading and/or assisting kids cooking events (classes, parties and special events). We continue to expand our partners and as we do our reach grows. Current classes are in Washington Heights, Western Queens, and Wall St. area. More classes are constantly being posted but candidate should be available/ willing to travel where ever a class is happening.
Candidate should be a good communicator, flexible and positive team player. Access to a car preferred due to the potential to carrying equipment (supplied), or willing to carry needed equipment/ food.
Duties include:
- Assisting and/or leading kids cooking events (classes, parties, and special events) for kids aged 2.5 to 16.
- Prep for classes: purchasing groceries and prepping/ cleaning for classes, as necessary.
- Clean up: Must leave locations in condition found, or cleaner.
- Supervise and aid children during cooking class.
- Teaching kids basic culinary skills, the recipe/ culture of the food being cooked, knowledge of what is being cooked.
- Building and maintain positive relationships with both parents and children.
- Follow up after classes with attendees and with Allergic to Salad.
- Recipe development, testing and writing.
- Maintain a positive, safe, supportive and welcoming environment.
Time Commitment:
Flexible/ freelance. Most classes are weekdays around 3:30 pm (after school) and weekends / daytime. As we grow, more classes will take place weekday days.
Payment:
Payment will depend on the type of event and scope of work involved but this is a paid position. Typical pay ranges from $40/ class up to $150 for a birthday party.
Knowledge & Experience:
Basic kitchen/ cooking and food knowledge (like knife skills)— and can explain these concepts to children. Knowledge of cuisine from many backgrounds/ willingness to learn is a must. Ability to "wing it" in the kitchen if something goes amiss -- grocery is out of an ingredient, say. Candidate does not need a culinary background but should have some solid chops in the kitchen/ taken a few classes. More important is your ability at classroom management with some culinary background (there are some classes of 16 children you will be teaching solo). Some teaching background preferred. Reliable, self-motivated, independent, motivational. Fun-loving and kid-loving a must. Strong communication skills. Organized with an attention to detail. Trustworthy. Flexible, with ability to improvise, if needed. Candidate may be in the process of completing a Bachelor's Degree, Culinary Degree, or having completed either/ both.
Strong classroom management skills is important.

Main Responsibilities
