Colleagues,

With summer in full swing, we wanted to share some highlights from our work in the last few months. We continue to work on our four priority areas: creating healthy institutions, training health professionals in nutrition and physical activity, demonstrating the value of prevention, and aligning federal food and farm policy.

Last month, we released our latest white paper in conjunction with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the American College of Sports Medicine: Teaching Nutrition and Physical Activity in Medical School: Training Doctors for Prevention-Oriented Care. A roundtable preview was hosted at BPC in Washington, D.C. to discuss the paper. We also had the opportunity to brief the Innovation Collaborative on Prevention at the Institute of Medicine’s Roundtable on Obesity Solutions on June 25th. The paper has been well-received and has generated press coverage in The Washington Post, POLITICO Pro, Modern Healthcare, and New Public Health, which also featured a spotlight of our project director, Lisel Loy, in which she highlighted the issue of nutrition and physical activity training in medical education. We are encouraged by the positive response, both in the media and among stakeholder groups, and we are working with our partners on next steps.

Read the full update on our priority areas here and see below for publication and event highlights.
