MPH Internship Opportunity in a Quality-of-Life (QoL) Prostate Cancer Study at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx NY:

This study focuses on identifying the specific physical and emotional symptoms and psychosocial needs of prostate cancer patients, comparing those receiving different treatment regimens (surgery vs radiation therapy) for their disease. Given that side effects of treatment chosen may significantly impact long term quality of life it is vital to learn about these patient needs to develop appropriate psycho-educational programs, both medically and psychologically.

Patients will be surveyed using the QoL Survey at 3 time points over one year, using a measure created for this study as well as a standardized QoL measure.

Specific outreach to this population will be facilitated through the Division of Urologic Oncology at Montefiore with collaboration by Reza Ghavamian, MD who will provide access to patients in the clinic and via telephone.

The Research intern for this study will recruit participants in clinic, administer informed consent and administer survey over the 3 time points of the study as well as assist with data entry and tracking of study participants. Great opportunity for MPH internship and thesis project!

English/Spanish-speaking applicants most highly considered.

Supervision will be provided by Alyson Moadel-Robblee, Ph.D., Evelyn Kolidas, Ph.D., and a postdoctoral fellow in Urologic Oncology.
