Sue Kaplan, JD, is affiliated with NYU Langone Medical Center where she is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health and a Research Scientist at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.  Although health outcomes in New York City have improved dramatically over the past few decades, unacceptable inequalities still persist.  Kaplan will discuss some of the causes of these disparities and describe her work in community/academic partnerships that have tried to address these issues -- in the South Bronx and in Chinatown and on the Lower East Side.  Her talk will describe the challenges and accomplishments of these efforts, as well as the personal rewards and lessons learned.
