Change Food - Research/Writing Intern

Change Food seeks a dynamic, detailed individual to help with research, writing and general duties.

Change Food is a nonprofit that works to help individuals change the way they eat by raising public awareness and educating consumers about problems with the U.S. food system. Our main projects include TEDxManhattan, a popular 1-day conference on sustainable food and farming now entering its 5^th year; Change Food Salons, smaller events around a single key issue; educational kits that will allow the TEDxManhattan talks to be used in classroom settings; and more. We seek a part-time, paid intern with a background in sustainable food to help with: research for projects including Change Food Video Library and Change Food Educational Kits; event planning/support for Change Food Salons and TEDxManhattan; outreach for TEDxManhattan viewing parties and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Applicants should have a strong interest as well as knowledge of/experience in sustainable food. Applicants must be either in college or have a Bachelor’s degree. Strong research, writing skills and the ability to work independently are key. Change Food has a ‘virtual office’ so applicants must have a place they can work and a computer.

University students are encouraged to apply, but they must be able to commit to working 10-15 hours a week.

Responsibilities

· Conduct research to gather additional information and resources for Change Food Educational Kits

· Conduct research to identify videos on sustainable food and farming for the Change Food Video Library

· Conduct outreach to sign up and promote TEDxManhattan Viewing Parties

· Help organize events including Change Food Salons and TEDxManhattan

· Identify and solicit potential sponsors for Change Food Salons

· Additional responsibilities may be added based on organization needs/intern capacity

Intern should be based in or near New York City to facilitate meetings with Change Food’s Executive Director and Deputy Director. Change Food has a virtual office, so day-to-day work will take place wherever the intern chooses.

Additional Information

Part-Time, 10-15 hours/week

$10/hour

Start date flexible but candidate is needed asap. Position open until filled.

Internship is a 6-month minimum commitment with potential of longer term and possibly more hours.
