SPEAKER
Marion Groetch, MS, RDN is the Director of Nutrition Services at the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  She is involved in research, educational programming and the care of patients with food allergy.  Marion has published original research and many text book and online chapters on food allergy management and is an invited peer reviewer for numerous allergy and immunology journals, as well as being a frequent invited lecturer at both national and international allergy and nutrition conferences.


COURSE OBJECTIVES
Following this course, participants will be able to:

  1.  Discuss the differences between IgE-mediated food allergy and other types of food allergies and intolerances
  2.  Recognize the signs and symptoms of food allergy
  3.  Identify the aspects of diet and medical history needed to evaluate patients with adverse food reactions
  4.  Differentiate gold standard lab methods used in food allergy testing from unproven or ineffective methods
  5.  Plan an appropriate diet and course of nutrition therapy for a patient with food allergies
  6.  Understand the nutritional risks associated with food allergies and elimination diets
  7.  Discuss food labeling regulations, including the new gluten labeling update
