For Pre-Medical Students,

A group of Hunter students preparing to take the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) between now and January of 2015, have organized group study sessions on Monday evenings at 7:30 pm in room 1403 Hunter North.

Dr. Phillips, Director of the Pre-Health Program at Hunter, has been helping to facilitate these sessions by providing the set of MCAT preparation passages and associated questions that are covered in each Workshop session. There are usually 3 passages in each Workshop and the format of the Workshop session allows participants to read passages and answer questions related to them within a specified time, discuss their answers in small groups, and then explain their problem solving strategies to other participants in attendance.

Please note that there is NO INSTRUCTION provided during these sessions. However, Dr. Phillips and/or other student volunteers are sometimes available to signal when the time allotted for each passage has elapsed and moderate the discussions.

Each session last for somewhere between 1.5 and 2 hours so the sessions typically run from 7:30 until around 9:30 pm. Each Workshop usually includes at least one Verbal Reasoning passage, with other passages taken from Physical or Biological Sciences sections. These sessions are suitable for anyone preparing to take the MCAT by January of 2015, BEFORE the exam changes to its new format.

If you would like to participate in this sort of group study effort, you are welcome to attend. Please note that these MCAT Workshops will NOT be held on dates when Hunter College is closed.
