Sharing what looks like a great meaningful position in South Sudan, description below.  Please share through your networks.  I’m including nutrition people but also the people that make nutrition happen:  food professionals.  Looks like either could do this job depending on your mix of skills, experience and interest.

Subject: job position in Nyamlell South Sudan

The position is for Nutrition Program Manager under Concern Worldwide (https://jobs.concern.net/), (attached position description details)

The Programme Manager - Nutrition will manage the implementation and growth of our nutrition programme in Northern Bahr el Ghazal responding to chronic food shortages and the risk of high rates of child malnutrition.  The Programme Manager will ensure the implementation of the country strategic plan and provide management oversight, including budget management. The Coordinator will provide appropriate technical support to projects and will work with Project Managers on proposal writing, reporting and general coordination (which includes responsibility for developing synergy and linkages between projects). In addition s/he will work with staff in charge of finance and logistics to ensure compliance with all Concern policies. The Manager will provide appropriate management support, training and guidance on relevant issues and will have representational responsibility on behalf of the organisation, liaising with stakeholders, including the County Health Department, the nutrition cluster, national and international NGOs.

Essential:

·         Degree in Public Health/Development Studies/Social Science or equivalent.

  • Minimum three years experience in a senior management role with proven programme management experience
  • Experience in supporting/managing nutrition/emergency food security programmes

Some personal insight:

·         This is a large program, very busy covering two counties of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state (Aweil North and Aweil West Counties).

·         Good team as well.

·         We are 65km from Aweil town which is a 2 hour flight from Juba on WFP planes.

·         Living arrangements: compound with expat and relocatable national staff - about 23 of us right now. We have houses, some have tents.

·         Food provided - we're working to improve that! But it is better than a month ago. Little fruit and limited veggies so takes some adjustment.
