Project INSPIRE NYC: Viral Hepatitis Data and Monitoring Research Assistant

Brief description of the project including the objectives, goals and deliverables:
The Bureau of Communicable Disease in the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is looking for a motivated intern with a background in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and other related public health fields to join the Viral Hepatitis Surveillance, Prevention
and Control team. The intern will work on several projects related to viral hepatitis prevention programming and surveillance activities in NYC, including routine surveillance, program evaluation, quality improvement indicators, outreach and education, and
primary and secondary prevention projects. Additional responsibilities may also include case investigation, patient interviews, data management, and data analysis in SAS and Access.

Develop and monitor quality improvement indicators for viral hepatitis programs.

Implement and evaluate quality improvement indicators with partners.
·
Use surveillance data to define selected indicators and work with clinical partners to validate.
·
Monitor and extract DOHMH surveillance data, as requested by DOHMH project teams.
·
Prepare reports, based on viral hepatitis service delivery programs.
·
Research and review systems of delivery of care for viral hepatitis.
·
Perform other duties as assigned.

Projected start and end dates:
The position is available immediately and will end at the completion of one academic year.
