International Food Information Council Foundation Accepting Applications for its 2015 Sylvia Rowe Fellowship

The International Food Information Council Foundation is currently accepting applications for its annual Sylvia Rowe Fellowship. The fellowship, established in 2007 as a tribute to former International Food Information Council Foundation President and CEO Sylvia B. Rowe, seeks promising nutrition, health, and food safety communicators to help enhance their capabilities. The goal of this award is to elevate the recipient's communication skills so that they can communicate nutrition and food safety information to the public in various settings and media platforms.

 

The recipient will be awarded an eight- to 12-week paid internship at the International Food Information Council Foundation offices in Washington, D.C.

 

Recipients of the fellowship have continued forth with a careers in a variety of business and food industry organizations and academic institutions. Kate Olender, the 2014 Sylvia Rowe Fellow, is a MS/MPH candidate in Food Policy & Applied Nutrition from Tufts University. Ms. Olender says, "The Sylvia Rowe Fellowship helped me better understand the complexities and intricacies of our food system. With this knowledge, I am better able to speak and communicate intelligently about it, and to work with a variety of key influencers of our food system, including people from food manufacturing companies, food retail outlets, non-profits, government, and academia."


Prospective applicants must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 12 months from the time of application) from a university undergraduate OR graduate program in nutrition, food safety, and/or journalism/communications. (Graduate students or recent graduates are preferred.) Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
