The Global Health Security Branch (GHSB), Division of Global Health Protection (DGHP), Center for Global Health (CGH), is currently recruiting for GS-601-15 Epidemiologists or GS-602-15 Medical Officers with prior global leadership experience. The incumbent will develop and oversee Global Health Security (GHS) program implementation in the country of assignment.  DGHP staffing in these country offices will work to strengthen and build capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to public health threats. Selected applicants will serve as the Country Director or DGHP Program Director and will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of all DGHP activities in the assigned country. These will be demanding assignments in high tempo environments under hardship conditions.

 

Positions: Epidemiologist, GS-601-15, Medical Officer, GS-602–15, or comparable USPHS Commissioned Corps Officers grade levels.

 

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

        Support CDC’s response to the Ebola outbreak in-country through coordination with the in-country response team, as well as with internal and external stakeholders.

        Collaborate with the U.S. Embassy, U.S. government, governmental, and nongovernmental partners, and CDC Headquarters in establishing the CDC Country Office partner with the Ministry of Health in development of strategic plan for the implementation of GHS Agenda and other CDC activities in-country.

        Communicate with U.S. and foreign government officials to carry out administrative and policy initiatives critical to public health.

        Provide technical and scientific oversight for CDC activities in-country.

        Collaborate with partners to develop a strategic plan for the CDC Country Office to build country public health capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to public health threats.

        Represent the agency at high-level embassy meetings and advise the U.S. Government on key public health decisions.
