Job Description
The Program Evaluation Unit conducts public health program evaluations, disseminates findings through publications and presentations, serves as a resource to other units in DOHMH that need help with program evaluations, and trains DOHMH staff in program evaluation. • For an evaluation of supportive housing:
o Create analytic datasets from multiple complex administrative datasets.

o Propose statistical approaches for analyses of cost, health care utilization,
health, and other program outcomes.

o Implement statistical approaches, including propensity score matching and analytic techniques that take into account propensity score matching.

o Create charts and figures summarizing analyses, and contribute to written reports and papers.

• Provide statistical guidance for other program evaluations, such as an evaluation of sick leave policies in NYC, and work on analyses and reports of findings.

Minimum Qual Requirements
1. For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in "1" and "2" above.

NYCCAH's nationwide volunteerism, Ending Hunger Through Citizen Service, aims to redefine the way people think and act about volunteering to fight hunger in order to increase the impact and effectiveness of service. The program engages individuals, nonprofits, civic organizations, youth groups, faith communities, businesses, and government agencies in focused efforts to end hunger and build nonprofit organizational capacity long-term. It seeks to move volunteers beyond food drives and holiday time food service, to more effective activities to increase utilization of federal nutrition assistance programs (e.g. SNAP, formerly food stamps), and activities to advocate with elected officials to improvement government hunger policies. More information about this effort is available at www.hungervolunteer.org.
NYCCAH's Child Nutrition work utilizes advocacy, outreach, communications, and volunteerism to increase access to federal child nutrition assistance programs, including school meals, the Summer Food Service Program, and Women, Infants, Children (WIC) program. This Director will work with NYCCAH staff and community partners to promote child nutrition programs and services locally and nationally. In addition, the Director will support NYCCAH's National AmeriCorps VISTA program, to provide technical assistance to VISTA members and host sites working with the Summer Food Service Program in their communities.
Responsibilities:
• Manage multiple funding sources for the Strategic Volunteerism and Child Nutrition department, which includes tracking progress towards grant goals, and working with Development and Finance staff on grant reports.
• Provide strategic guidance on child nutrition activities, including local community engagement and advocacy efforts; and local volunteer engagement activities, including NYCCAH's strategic partnership with NYC Service on the city-wide Reducing Hunger Volunteer Impact Initiative.
• Directly supervise the Volunteer Program Coordinator, the Child Nutrition Program Coordinator, and two AmeriCorps members.
• Oversee upgrades to www.hungervolunteer.org, including managing the current contract with web development consultants.

About the Position
CPF seeks two enthusiastic and experienced part-time Physical Education Instructors for comprehensive afterschool programs. The anticipated schedules are: in Brooklyn (Red Hook), M-F from 3-6pm and, on Staten Island (Richmond Terrace), M-W from 3-6:30pm, one Saturday/month and all school holidays. The Physical Education Instructors report to the Partnership Manager at each site, who reports to the Director of Media Arts.
The afterschool program combines instruction in homework help, environmental science, media arts and healthy living. The Physical Education Instructors lead a group of 15 youth in homework help and leads healthy living units each with 15 students. Held indoors and outdoors. Based on the interests and abilities of students and instructors, the healthy living units can reflect a wide range of activities and topics, from nutrition to sports. In addition, the Physical Education instructors will coordinate less structured physical activities for youth each day. The Environmental Educators will shape their lessons to ensure they promote positive youth development, experiential learning, and healthy behaviors. In addition, weekly "Fieldwork Fridays" take students outdoors for service learning in parks and physical activities such as hiking.
In addition to 15 hours of direct instruction per week, throughout employment at CPF, the Environmental Educators will participate in up to 100 hours of planning, supervision and special events, including:
• Up to eight six-hour planning sessions to develop lessons and reflect on student work
• Six CPF Education staff meetings (two hours each) which focus on skills and knowledge development in education and youth development
• Two offsite professional development workshops in science, education or youth development (of your choosing)
• Up to two hours of supervision each week (group and individual)
• Three "Service Saturdays" that engages youth and their families in projects such as street tree care or composting.
Key Responsibilities
• Work with the Partnership Manager and other frontline educators to implement curricula, lessons and provide assessment for the afterschool programs.

The primary purpose of the Team Sports Nutritionist MSG is to counsel athletes on the optimal nutrition goals for their specific training regimen. Their counseling promotes the basic practices of positive nutrition and healthful eating plans to maintain the athletes’ overall wellness and quality of life. Job Qualifications:
• Create customized nutrition plans for the athletes they work with. Personalized meal and snack plans are created to help the athlete achieve both dietary and professional goals. In addition, nutritional challenges such as food allergies, along with vitamin and mineral deficiencies are addressed. For athletes suffering from injuries, the Team Sports Nutritionist will often provide nutritional guidance to help the athlete heal as quickly as possible.

• Utilize body composition testing to determine the ratio of water, fat and muscle in the athlete. This information will be used as a barometer of the athletes’ health and fitness level. In addition, metabolic rate testing can be used to determine the metabolic efficiency of the athletes’ body.

• Educates athletes in food selection and food preparation. Develops resources and learning opportunities to support educational efforts such as print media, web based media and social media.

• Advises the appropriate support personnel for menu planning and meal scheduling both on-site and during travel pertinent to pre-competition meals, hydration, catering, airline catering, hotels, competition and supplementation.

• Advises food service managers on sanitation, safety procedures, menu development, budgeting, and planning.

• Assists administration in the development of nutrition policies and procedures.

• Maintains appropriate certification/licenses and continuing education requirements.

• Participates in professional organizations and activities, workshops, seminars, and development programs related to expertise.

• Stays abreast of current food, nutrition, and health issues and research related to sports nutrition.
