The Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) Facilities Compliance Manager, under the direction of the Facilities Director of Compliance, has the responsibility for managing and supporting all compliance programs within Facilities Management.

The Facilities Compliance Manager promotes a safe and healthful work and learning environment in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations and standards and conducts facility safety inspections and audits field safety activities, including construction/renovation projects, to identify potential safety and health hazards and proposes and develops solutions for immediate implementation. S/he assists with the development, distribution, training and implementation of informational documents such as policies, programs and procedures. S/he conducts specific Job Hazard Analyses and identifies necessary work practice and engineering controls, as well as personal protective equipment, and works with the various Facilities Management teams in program implementation.

Additionally, the successful candidate must be familiar with building fire protection and suppression systems and appliances, and basic building utility systems, including, but not limited to: vertical transportation, HVAC, communication, and internal emergency power systems that support administrative and residential areas.

Physical work is a primary part of the job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require basic safety precautions. The work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, odors and/or loud noises. It is also conducted indoors and outdoors and may require wearing personal protective clothing and a respirator.

Regular hours for this position are 4PM to 12AM Monday to Friday, but candidate must be willing to work other days and required.
