Join us for an interactive cooking lesson with the very talented Despina Economou of the League of Kitchens (www.leagueofkitchens.com), a new immersive culinary adventure in NYC where immigrants, who are exceptional home cooks, teach intimate cooking workshops in their own home kitchens.  The LK has been featured in the NY Times, the Wall Street Journal, Tasting Table, and Saveur, among others. Conde Nast Traveler called the LK "quite possibly the coolest foodie thing to do in NYC whether you're a visitor or local."

For our event, Despina will demonstrate how to make faki, a hearty and lentil and vegetable soup considered a staple in the Greek kitchen, a side of horta, leafy greens like bitter chicory or dandelion greens, and spanakopita, iconic of Greek cuisine, made with phyllo dough, lots of fresh dill, scallions, and Despina’s favorite Arachova feta cheese, to add a unique fresh zing to this comforting dish.  Despina will guide you through how to handle delicate phyllo dough to make the crispest golden crust and we will all have the pleasure of tasting these three vibrant dishes.
