Position Overview: Hudson Valley Seed's Garden Educator will implement and help develop Hudson Valley Seed's curriculum-integrated garden program. The Garden Educator will be working in the Newburgh City School District bringing students out to school gardens to teach academics and nutrition through experiential garden learning. The Garden educator will administer lessons both indoors and outdoors, teaching students Hudson Valley Seed-curricula year round. The Garden Educator will work closely with participating school teachers, parents and community members, and will work to build the foundation of the organization as it grows to work with more school districts and students. The garden educator will work closely with the rest of the Hudson Valley Seed team as they collectively educate 1,500 students each week across Putnam, Dutchess and Orange Counties.
Responsibilities:
Teach weekly garden programs to approximately 15 classes each week in the Newburgh City School District, teaching in both an indoor and outdoor setting.
Assist with garden lesson planning including working with other staff to develop materials, communication with schools, and documentation of programs.
Management and care of existing education program materials, supplies and equipment as well as the development of new ones as needed.
Implement Hudson Valley Seed weekly garden programs including maintaining necessary annual paperwork, providing resources for teachers, modeling place-based and inquiry learning through teaching, assisting schools with correlating curriculum to NY Frameworks, keeping records of time spent on programs and writing an annual report.
Participate in regular Hudson Valley Seed staff meetings.

Summary: Provides optimal nutritional care to the hospitals clientele through assessing nutritional needs. Develops, implements and re-assesses nutritional care plans. Performs nutrition assessments on patients identified as being at nutritional risk, develops and implements nutrition care plans and goals for patients at nutritional risk, reassess the effects of nutrition therapy, make relevant recommendations and provides continuum of care, ensures accuracy of patient menus, provides nutrition education/counseling to patients and family members, as assigned, Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and committees, and collects data for performance improvement activities.
Qualifications: Certificate in Nutrition Support Dietetics (CNSD) preferred. Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist in New York State preferred. 2 years Registered Dietitian experience preferred. Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred.

Job Description
Purpose of Position:
This class of position encompasses work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility in the operation of a dietary department. There are four Assignment Levels within this class of positions, and all personnel perform related work. The following are typical assignments within this class of positions.
Assignment Level I
Under general supervision, plans and directs the operation of a major division of a dietary service. In addition to performing the duties of Assignment Level I at a more difficult and responsible level, performs the following:
Example of Typical Tasks:
1. Directs and supervises work of dietitians, dietetic technicians, food service supervisors, cooks and helpers in a unit of a dietetic department. Is responsible for personnel work schedules and performance ratings. 2. Participates in menus planning. Evaluates and adjusts master menus to assure nutritional adequacy of therapeutic diets. Consults with medical staff concerning food service and nutritional needs of clients. 3. Inspects assigned food service for compliance with accepted standards, departmental and/or other regulatory agencies policies related to food preparation, portion control, tray service, sanitation of work areas, use and care of equipment and supplies. 4. Inspects or supervises the inspection of all foods, supplies, and equipment upon receipt for compliance with specifications. 5. Prepares or assists with the preparation of estimates of food requirements and monthly requisitions and many monitor expenditures. 6. Develops educational and training program for professional and auxiliary staff. 7. Maintains records and writes reports.
In the Health and Hospitals Corporation in addition to performing the duties as described previously, also performs the following:
1. Provides nutritional counseling for outpatients.
2. Supervises and participates in the planning for patients nutritional care and education both in the hospital and the out-patient department.
3. Develops and directs the dietetic teaching program in accordance with New York State requirements; plans and conducts courses in diet therapy, nutrition and cookery, including laboratory sessions and practice work.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Registration or eligibility for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian.

Diabetes Manager Registered nurse with a Bachelors Degree or a Registered Dietitian with a Masters Degree is required 350 bed community hospital within a healthcare system The Manager Center for Diabetes is responsible for program development, administrative management, and clinical supervision of Hospital Center for Diabetes. The Manager serves as a liaison for program staff, medical staff, administration and Diabetes Advisory Committee. Responsibilities include ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of diabetes education programs/services. The manager ensures collaboration between program staff, physicians and other healthcare professionals as they provide diabetes education within the agency and in the community. The manager provides direct supervision to program staff to ensure quality diabetes education is provided consistent with ADA Standards of Care. Leadership is evidenced through collaborative program development, and evaluation; participation in departmental and interdepartmental committees, through clinical consultative services and commitment to enhancing personal professional growth. Hospital philosophy/goals and American Diabetes Standards of Care guide these actions. Must be registered to practice in NYS. Three-five years experience in diabetes education and experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is required. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) required.
