Lecture Information:
Dr. Gerald Mullin - The Gut Balance Revolution: Microbiomes and Weight Regulation
Dr. Mullin is an Associate Professor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital where he chairs the hospitals Nutrition Advisory Committee. Dr. Mullin is nationally and internationally renowned
for his work in integrative gastroenterology and nutrition. In 2009 he was named by the American Dietetic Association as an honorary member. He is chair of the CNSC exam committee for the NBNSC and is chair-elect of the Medical Practice section of ASPEN. Dr.
Mullin has authored/edited several books in nutrition and integrative medicine and his newest trade book The Gut Balance Revolution will be by Rodale Press in June 2015 (http://thefoodmd.com/books).
Lecture will address:
• A review of the role of the gut microbiome in health and metabolism
• A discussion of the role of the gut microbiome in the pathophysiology of obesity.
• Prebiotics and probiotics in the management of obesity.
