APHA President to Keynote CUNY SPH Graduation Ceremony
 
We are pleased to announch that Dr. Shiriki Kumanyika will present the keynote address at the CUNY School of Public Health’s Graduation Recognition Ceremony on June 2, 2015. Dr.  Kumanyika, is a public health scholar and currently serves as president of the American Public Health Association.

Dr. Shiriki Kumanyika

Dr. Kumanyika,emeritus professor of epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine,  was also the founding director of the school’s MPH program. Dr. Kumanyika’s interdisciplinary training and experience in social work, nutrition, epidemiology, and public health has uniquely positioned her to address the prevention of obesity and other diet-related chronic diseases and health disparities, as evidenced by her extensive experience in advisory roles related to public health and nutrition policy in the U.S. and abroad. She is currently a nutrition epidemiology advisor to the World Health Organization and the World Cancer Research Fund and Co-Chair of the Policy & Prevention Group of the World Obesity Federation.
 
Dr. Kumanyika will also be joined by CUNY Board of Trustee member Rita DiMartino, and members of the University Chancellery.
 
The Graduation Recognition Ceremony will honor graduates and awardees from across the four campuses of the CUNY School of Public Health. This year’s ceremony will be held in the Gerald Lynch Theatre at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
