The AIDS Center of Queens County's Food and Nutrition Services program in Jamaica, Queens is looking for an RD with HIV experience to provide nutrition assessments/reassessments, counseling, and nutrition plan development/update in 18-month cycles for clients in need of food and/or nutrition services.  The FNS program is grant-funded by Public Health Solutions, which reimburses the program on a fee-for-service basis.

 

The RD sees clients for their initial nutrition assessment, nutrition counseling, and nutrition plan development, then meets with them at 6 months, 12 months and 18 months for reassessments (and interim counseling sessions as needed) with a possibility for the client to remain in the program on extension, if need be.  The client also receives therapeutic food pantry on a weekly or bi-monthly basis, provided by program staff/peers.

 

The RD is also responsible for providing educational materials (from any appropriate source) at the first session an ongoing as needed. The RD should have a bachelor's or masters in nutrition, be current with continuing education, preferably a member of AND HIV/AIDS Dietetic Practice Group.   Sensitivity to ethnic, cultural and sexual

minorities.  Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

 

Pay is $45/hr,  minimum 4 hrs/wk, up to 7-8 hrs. Flexible hours during Mon-Friday 9-5 work week.
