New York City Expands Free School Breakfast Program

As part of a budget deal, officials in New York City announced $17.9 million in funding toward a program that will eventually provide free breakfast in elementary school classrooms citywide to more than 339,000 students. The city has offered free breakfasts since 2003, but in many schools only to students who eat in the cafeteria before school starts.
