Letter Writing Campaign ! !
Hello from the GNYDA Public Policy team!
Thank you so much for your willingness to help our efforts to obtain licensure.
As you know, licensure would help ensure that only qualified professionals with the proper education, training, and testing could perform medical nutrition therapy (MNT). By writing letters to our New York State representatives (who ultimately vote on this
decision), we can educate those who don't yet understand the need for licensure, as well as continue to thank those who have already pledged their support. If you follow the steps below and participate in our letter-writing campaign, not only will you be advocating
for the successful future of our profession, but you will also receive a 10% discount code to use at any future GNYDA event!

The attached letter is formatted as a "thank you" to Senator LaValle and Assembly Member Jaffee who are the sponsors
of our licensure legislation. You will send a copy of this letter to them both (to thank them and encourage them to continue supporting us), and also to your personal New York State assembly member and senator (basically, it's like "CCing" them on this thank
you letter, just like you would do in an email...except this is snail-mail style). When your assembly member and senator see that you have CC'd them on this thank you letter, they'll become more interested in the issue and know that they should speak more
to LaValle and Jaffee about possibly sponsoring our licensure legislation too. Instructions:
1) Find the name and address of your New York State assembly member and senator using these two links:
2) Open the attached letter
SupportLtr.Licensure2015.docx and modify all highlighted items as appropriate (enter the date, indicate if you are a student, sign off with your name and address, and enter your senator and assembly member's name at the bottom where indicated). Be
sure to remove the "highlighter" effect once finished. You are welcome to make further changes, but it's not necessary.
3) Print FOUR copies of the letter, and place each copy in a separate envelope. You should now have four envelopes
with a copy of the same letter in each one.
5) Address one letter to Senator LaValle, one to Assembly member Jaffee, one to your State Senator, and one to your
Assembly member. The addresses for LaValle and Jaffee can be found at the top of the letter. The addresses for your personal Senator and Assembly member can be found at the websites listed in step #1 (if two addresses are listed, use the Albany one).
6) Write your return address on and stamp each envelope, take a picture, and send to [log in to unmask]-this
is optional, but if we get your picture, we'll send you a 10% discount code to use at a future GNYDA event!
7) Mail them out and congratulate yourself on advocating for the future of RDNs!
