CDC has released an in-depth set of food service guidelines (often called procurement policies) case studies. Many federal, state and local agencies are adopting food service guidelines (see a map of some of them at http://cspinet.org/images/State%20Map.PNG), which is helping improve access to healthy food across the country. If your state or locality isn't or if you'd like to strengthen your policy, please contact Tony Ellis at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
The Food Service Guidelines: Case Studies from States and Communities<http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/downloads/fsg_casestudies_508.pdf> highlights five case studies of food and beverage guidelines. The case studies provide information on the implementation and evaluation of food service guidelines, along with descriptions of site-specific successes and challenges. These case studies can help facilitate peer-to-peer learning across states and provide valuable information on how to implement these strategies.
Checkout CDC's Smart Food Choices toolkit (http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/downloads/smart-food-choices-how-to-implement-food-service-guidelines.pdf) for more on how to implement food service guidelines in public facilities.
