Update: CMS Therapeutic Diet Order Writing

In July 2015, the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed rules the would revise the requirements that Long Term Care facilities would need to meet to participate in Medicare and Medicaid. Click here for the full document. Within this document there is an item about ordering therapeutic diets (Food and Nutrition Services, 483.60).  Consequently the NYSAND CMS Order Writing Task Force reviewed these proposed rules and submitted written comments on 9/14/2015. Please note that if you wish to submit comments the deadline has been extended to 10/14/2015. NYSAND will alert members about the final rules, when they are available.

New Online Certificate of Training Program: 'Vegetarian Nutrition'
This growing trend offers registered dietitian nutritionists opportunities to be the go-to source for tailoring a healthy vegetarian diet. A new online certificate program prepares RDNs to excel in this specialty. Click here for more information. 


NYSAND Updates

National Malnutrition Awareness Week™ - September 28th - October 2nd 

Now is a good time to pause for a moment to think about the older Americans in your life: do they eat enough? And do they eat well enough? If “no” is the answer to either or both of these questions, it’s time to get informed about malnutrition and take action for the sake of your loved one’s health and well being. The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition hosts its fourth annual Malnutrition Awareness Week™ September 28th - October 2nd. Click here for more information. Centennial Celebration in Lake Placid, May 10-12 2017

May 2017 will bring to NYSAND a great centennial celebration in Lake Placid! In preparation, our ten districts are uncovering their own history and memorable moments and highlighting member achievements. The results will be unveiled at the centennial gala and with this effort each district will take home a professionally made pull up banner for district use - ten banners – ten districts. Get out those old newsletters, the old photos, and uncover the story. See you in Lake Placid!
