On October 8, contributors to the "Community Voices: Nutrition Assistance Matters Campaign" will be gathering on Capitol Hill to share their personal experiences with policymakers about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and child nutrition programs such as school meals and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). As they take action that day for these important programs, we're asking you to take action with them.

The Center for American Progress, Witnesses to Hunger, the Coalition for Human Needs, Feeding America, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics are sponsoring a National Day of Action to protect and strengthen nutrition assistance programs. Congress is currently considering reauthorization of Child Nutrition programs and debating funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in end-of-year funding debates.

Visit the Academy's Action Center to easily write your members of Congress and tell them that you want them to support and protect nutrition assistance programs.

Sincerely,

Courtney Puidk, MS, RDN
Hunger and Environmental Nutrition (HEN) Policy and Advocacy Leader
