FMM Pro: SUNY Farmers Market Manager Certification Program to Kick Off This November

The Farmers Market Federation of NY, in partnership with SUNY Cobleskill, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County and the NYS Fresh Connect Program is pleased to announce SUNY FMM Pro - the first ever Farmers Market Managers Professional Certification Course.

The course will kick off this November 10th to 12th on the SUNY Cobleskill Campus with a market manager’s conference. The conference, open to market managers; both current and prospective; will be held on the SUNY Cobleskill campus, from November 10 – 12.

The conference schedule will include an intense three days of workshops, tours of the SUNY Cobleskill Ag Facilities, and an opportunity to network with market managers from around the state. All workshops will be recorded and used to form the basis for an online curriculum for the FMM PRO Certification Program and will be placed on Moodle.com, an online learning platform, under the sponsorship of Cornell University.  To complete certification, managers will take the online classes, opening in March 2016. After completing all sessions, homework assignments and quizzes, managers will have earned the title “Certified Farmers Market Manager” and receive a certificate signed by the Farmers Market Federation of NY, SUNY Cobleskill and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County.

Besides the benefits of participating in a conference: skills building, networking and relationship building, the November PMM Pro conference will offer unique benefits:

·          Each participant will receive a $25 voucher towards the $200 registration fee of the online certification program for each day they participate in the conference. That means people who attend the full conference will receive $75 off the course!

·          Each session not only includes a presentation by someone experienced in the topic being presented, but also an activity to help you relate the discussion to your own market’s unique needs.

·          Participants will receive an FMM Pro USB drive with all of the materials and presentations from the conference so they can re-read and review as they move forward and begin to implement the lessons.
