Continuing the Academy’s Successes
Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (S.1509, H.R.2404) has 10 Senate co-sponsors and 118 House co-sponsors. The Preventing Diabetes in the Medicare Act (H.R.1686) has 25 House co-sponsors. Academy Meets With Surgeon General Murthy for Plan to Address Obesity and Diabetes
This week the Academy, along with other leaders of the Obesity Care Continuum<http://www.obesity.org/about-us/obesity-care-continuum.htm> and Diabetes Advocacy Alliance<http://www.diabetesadvocacyalliance.org/>, met with the Surgeon General Murthy.  The meeting discussed the increasing problem of the obesity and diabetes pandemics and how to connect the clinical and public health communities to stop this trend.
