Biostatistics Internship Opportunity in Medical Education Research

Position Description/Responsibilities: The Program for Medical Education Innovations and Research (PrMEIR) at the Department of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine is seeking a bright, motivated biostatistics intern interested in pursuing a career in health-related research, or health technology to assist in research aiming to build the evidence base for medical education at NYU and more broadly. The intern will, under supervision of senior staff, be responsible for performing descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, summarizing results using tables and graphs for presentation or manuscript preparation, and editing and finalizing research databases for statistical analysis.

Applicants must have some bachelor’s degree in math, statistics, or computer science or a bachelor’s degree in another field with one year of experience or training in statistical programming. Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate degree program, preferably biostatistics.

Time commitment: Part time, at least 8 hours are required per week including weekly research team meetings. Applicants must be able to commit to for the duration of the academic year with the possibility of extension. The position will ideally begin in October (but is dependent on timing of processing paperwork).

This position is part of the NYU Division of General Internal Medicine Research Intern Program, and as such the intern will have many opportunities to be mentored by team members, as well as attend meetings and lectures at NYU School of Medicine.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Current funding for the position cannot be promised at this time. Research interns may have the opportunity to be authors on abstracts and manuscripts, depending on involvement with preparation.
