Job Title:                        Dietitian Consultant (up to 40 hours; project based)

Position Reports to:       Project Manager

Position Description:
The Office of Faith Based Initiatives is an office of the Center for Health Equity. The Center is devoted to reducing the differences in health outcomes across the neighborhoods of New York City that can be traced to unequal economic, environmental, and social conditions. The Center promotes healthy eating, healthy living and systems changes in the food and physical environment and develops programs that promote physical activity and healthy eating.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Office of Faith Based Initiatives is seeking a Consultant to oversee nutritional guidance for specific Asian communities (Korean, Bangladeshi and Punjabi). Position does not require proficiency in Korean, Bangladeshi and Punjabi. This position is project based and may require up to 40 hours for completion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  *   Review nutrition-focused educational materials to ensure scientifically accurate and culturally relevant to target populations
  *   Provide Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) staff with guidance documents regarding specific Asian food and eating practices
  *   Communicate recommendations to DOHMH staff

QUALIFICATIONS:

  *   Must possess an EIN number at time of hire
  *   Registered Dietitian
  *   Master’s Degree in Public Health Nutrition or equivalent preferred
  *   Knowledge of and proficiency in developing and/or reviewing nutrition-focused educational materials
  *   Experience with community-based initiatives, cultural competency, and working with low-income, urban populations
  *   Strong computer skills
  *   Detail-oriented, organized, creative and possess excellent communication and writing skills
  *   Knowledge of specific Asian communities preferred

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
This position is $75/hour.
