As a Clinical Dietitian you will provide overall nutrition care to patients. Qualifications:
The position is considered Entry Level, and requires a Bachelor’s Degree and eligibility to practice dietetics in the state of employ.

Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Registered Dietitian (RD), Bushwick Center is actively seeking a full time Registered Dietitian (RD) for our Skilled Nursing Facility.

DUTIES:
Assess / Monitor the Residents' nutritional status, provide recommendations to medical staff, and develop adequate care plans
Evaluate special needs of Residents regarding nutrition support, skin breakdown, and significant weight issues
Coordinate procurement of nutrition support supplies and oral supplements with outside vendors as well as involved department heads
Monitor Resident meal service to ensure diet modifications are followed
Educate Residents, families and staff in concepts of nutrition & diet modification
Routinely evaluate Dietary Care plans for effectiveness to ensure high quality of care
Meet weekly with interdisciplinary team to review and adjust residents’ plan of care
Work closely with Speech-Language Pathologist to ensure appropriate mechanically altered diets are provided for residents with dysphagia
Reviewing all menu changes to ensure they follow facility’s policies/procedures & State/Federal guidelines
Update diet order and menu changes in computer menu software on a daily basis
Supervising & working closely with the dietary team to provide excellent Resident care
Conduct audits of areas relevant to providing quality nutrition care on a routine basis
Ensure facility is in compliance with regulations and policies on weight monitoring
Communicate with interdisciplinary team on a daily basis to provide quality care to Residents

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a Registered Dietitian
Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
Supervisory experience in healthcare settings
Exceptional interpersonal & leadership skills
Knowledge of applicable state and federal guidelines

Under general supervision of the Food Service Manager, the Nutritionist will be responsible for ensuring incorporate all up-to-date recommendations of the NYC Food Standards, National Research Council, Office of Children and Family Services regulations, Food Drug Administration (FDA), CDC, and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). Proper nutrition and nutritional counseling to meet the needs of the youth in our care is an important role in our commitment for good health and well-being. The Division of Youth and Family Justice provides care, custody and control of approximately 430 youth daily in its network of secure and non-secure facilities Dietitian will also formulate special diet menus for pregnancy, diabetes, allergies; Nutritionist will also review the menus for the thirteen contracted non-secure group homes, on an as needed basis, to ensure their compliance with dietary guidelines.  
The primary duties will include but are not limited to:
• Organize and plan menus for the youth in our care, in compliance with the New York City Food Standards.
• Prepare and recommend meals for youth with special dietary needs.
• Assist Food Service Manager in reviewing and updating menus as needed for corrective remedies to ensure strict adherence to established standards.
• Develops educational and training program.
• Maintains records and writes reports

Qualification Requirements
1. A master's degree from an accredited college in nutrition or in public health; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 18 semester credits in nutrition or public health on the graduate or undergraduate level, and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in nutrition education.

Special Qualification Requirements
Assignment Level II
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements described above, one (1) year as a Nutritionist AL I with the City of New York or at least three (3) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in nutrition education.
Assignment Level III
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements described in Assignment Level I, two (2) years as a Nutritionist AL I and AL II with the City of New York or five (5) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in nutrition education, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
