The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that it will push back enforcement of its menu labeling regulation—which had been scheduled to take effect Dec. 1, 2016<http://click.rwjfmail.org/?qs=654abfa1c37f621e314d77008f801d0258a9b2120057a569432a7ce3e107364f>—to comply a provision in the recent omnibus spending bill postponing enforcement until one year after the agency issues final guidance. The rule will require chain restaurants and other food retail establishments to post calorie information on their menus and provide additional nutrition information to consumers upon request. The FDA said that final guidance will be released “as soon as possible.”
