Across the United States up to 40% of edible food goes uneaten, while one in six Americans struggle to find enough to eat. Almost all wasted food ends up in landfills, meaning that $165 billion
per year is literally thrown away. This Coffe e Talk wi ll introduce you to how Community Food Rescue, a program of Manna Food Center, is tackling the twin problems of food waste and food insecurity in Montgomery County, MD. In this county, 78,000 people
are food insecure while 246,000 tons of food is wasted each year. Cheryl Kollin, Program Director of Community Food Rescue, will share process and best practices for building a countywide, coordinated network for collective impact.
