Do you want to cut back on drinking alcohol? April is Alcohol Awareness Month, and the perfect time to learn how to moderate (limit) your drinking — or stop drinking altogether.

If you choose to drink, have only a moderate amount.

This means no more than 1 drink a day for women and 2 drinks a day for men. Here are some strategies that can help you cut back or stop drinking.

Set a drinking limit — for example, choose to have no more than 3 drinks per week.

Take at least 1 day off from drinking each week.

Don’t drink when you are upset.

Avoid places where people drink a lot, like bars.

Don’t keep a lot of alcohol at home.

Make a list of reasons to drink less or quit — and keep it with you.
