Dear Pre-Health Students!

This is Chris Lopez and I'm reaching out to let everyone know about this amazing research opportunity for premedical and predental students. There's a fair amount of information in this email, so the one-liner is: this is a cutting-edge research opportunity and most importantly, the deadline for this application is September 9th. So, on to the fair amount of information:

I am currently spending a full year between my 3rd and 4th years of medical school conducting research at NYU, in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery. The PI is extremely committed to mentorship and teaching. Dr. Paulo Coelho is a professor at both the College of Dentistry and the Department of plastic and reconstructive surgery at NYU, and this is an extremely well funded (NIH, private sector, and department of defense) lab exploring topics such as: 3D printed scaffolds to induce regeneration of cleft palates, long bone regeneration, various types of surgical hardware instrumentation, and more.

I truly believe that this experience is game-changer for premeds and predental students - high impact abstracts and manuscripts are constantly being published/presented, the environment is challenging yet supportive, and the letter of rec from this will be invaluable to either medical or dental school.

This is a one year commitment with a minimum of 10-15 hours per week. The attached application should be filled out and sent back to this email address by 11:59 PM on September 9th. After review of the application, promising applicants will be invited to interview. Please note that a letter of rec from a science faculty member is required- a Natural Science faculty member's honest assessment of a student is an essential part of the application. I do apologize for only providing two weeks advance notice, but we'd like to maximize student time in the lab! Again, please forgive me.

Thank you so much for your time and participation. It would be my pleasure to answer questions at any time over email or phone.

Sincerely,

Chris Lopez
