The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP), formerly known as the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP), is a unique free summer opportunity for college freshmen and sophomores to experience first-hand what medical school is all about.

Student Hotspotters Improve Outcomes for Frequently Hospitalized Patients |

People who are repeatedly admitted to the hospital are often complicated patients. They may lack primary care, struggle with psychological issues, live in unhealthy housing, or are homeless. Hotspotting is a data-driven method that identifies these people as
high-need patients and allows for interdisciplinary teams to work with them to learn their story and to assist in problem-solving. Some medical students are getting the opportunity to be on these teams, and some medical schools are even adding it to their
curriculum. |
