Postdoctoral position available at NYU School of Medicine.

We have an immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow with a Ph.D. in behavioral/health psychology, behavioral economics, nursing, or public health (or related) to join a research lab focused on improving the treatment and prevention of obesity in primary care at New York University School of Medicine. The candidate would be expected to help lead a multicenter trial of an intervention which uses technology-assisted health coaching to improve weight management counseling in primary care. Opportunities and dedicated time will be provided for the candidate to conduct his/her own research under the mentorship of Dr. Melanie Jay.  The Department of Population Health offers rich opportunities for collaboration and research training. . The study is entitled Testing the Efficacy of a Technology-Assisted Weight Management Intervention within Patient-Centered Medical Homes: The GEM (Goals for Eating and Moving) Study (1R01DK111928-01). We will conduct a cluster randomized controlled trial of healthcare teams at the Veterans Affairs and Montefiore Medical Center. The intervention utilizes a novel goal setting tool delivered via tablet computers, team based care, trained health coaches,  and primary care physicians to encourage goal-setting and weight management.  

 

Candidates must have a PhD and background in psychology, public health, behavioral economics, nursing, and/or nutrition and have experience in managing large research studies with human subjects. Experience at the Veteran’s Affairs and Spanish language proficiency would be useful for this role as well.
