Call for Abstract Submissions for the 5th Annual

LGBT Health Workforce Conference

Applications due December 31, 2016

We invite you to submit an abstract to next year’s LGBT Health Workforce Conference.  The 5th annual conference will take place at Hunter College University in New York City on Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22, 2017.   The conference will be titled, Collaborative Health Care Initiatives for the LGBT Community Today and Tomorrow

As we approach the end of 2016, it is time to reflect on the coming challenges and innovations in care for LGBT patients.  LGBT inclusion in electronic medical records, improved access to insurance coverage, and an aging LGBT population are just some examples of the many areas where health care professionals will be challenged to provide quality care to an increasingly diverse patient population. New collaborative strategies will be needed in 2017 to meet LGBT health goals: linking patients to inclusive and quality care, educating patients on health maintenance, and training a health workforce that is empathetic to their patients and knowledgeable of their health concerns.

Proposals are intended to provide a forum for the extended exchange of ideas among participants on topics of broad interest regarding empowering the health care workforce to care for LGBT patients.  The Program Committee is most interested in workshops detailing: 1) innovative research describing LGBT health disparities, 2) best practices in the care of LGBT patients, 3) institutional climate practices supporting the inclusion of LGBT patients, and 4) educational initiatives to train health care providers to provide better care to LGBT patients. However, other LGBT workforce-related proposals will be considered.
